So the people who talk the loudest and whine the most, get the attention, even if what they say is crap. That's what is happening in the media and that is what happens on the ground - like in my town.
The media highlights the crazies even though they know these people are spurting garbage. A double digit percent of people in this country think that President Obama is a Muslim. The man has never been known to go to a mosque and has said he is a Christian. I am curious if the same doubters thought he was a radical angry black man for attending the Wright church - a Christian church Obama attended for over two decades. I am no religious expert, but I do not think you can be both Muslim and Christian at the same time. Why does the media give these loons a voice?
The president hosted a Passover Seder, I do not recall anyone "implying" that he was Jewish. The president hosts a Ramadan dinner and that becomes proof he is a Muslim.
I live in a small town - without the charm. The whiners get what they want - school bus stops get changed because someone complains their kid walk too far to the stop (1/4 mile), G-rated movies in school are removed because one religious fanatical family disapproves, spelling gets removed from the curriculum because a few families complain it is too much work for their kids, the list goes on.
It is really frustrating the amount of ignorance that permeates the society. If you are a farmer, haven't you noticed over the years the effect of the climate on your crops? Why would you believe a t.v. personality telling you that global warming/climate change is not real? - If you have been paying your taxes every year for say the past decade, did it increase since the Obama administration? Why believe a t.v. personality telling you it did? - A man attends Christian services, he says he is a Christian, is there reason to question his faith? What happened to religious freedom?
I was chastised by a fellow homeschooling mom because I told her I choose not to shop at Walmart. I told her I had issues with their business practices and even simpler, I did not think their prices were any better than where I prefer to shop - Target. She told me that I really needed to rethink my position because Walmart was a Christian owned company. huh? I told her when spending my money I choose where I shop based on many things. For me a Christian owned business would have to do more than censor music, they would also need to implement "Christian values" such as treating all workers fairly. Does she sit down and research who owns every product she buys? I seriously doubt that. She bought into a soundbite and rode off with it.
My suggestion for the religious fanatics - actually practice the core of your religion. Most religions speak of being humble, forgiving, and being generous. If only ......
The media don't provide critical coverage of these things. They run like fowls to the latest crap. 2 years ago he was part of a radical black church...and for 20yrs. Now he's a muslim??!! It's beyond me how the media can just let this fundamental contradiction slide. smh.
