Today at my daughters' school they will be administering the H1N1 vaccine. We opted out of it.
Once again I am on the fringe. (So comfortable here why leave.)
Apparently about 80% of the students will be vaccinated. Seems the school and district were caught off guard with the "positive" response. (Even though they sent a permission slip home with every student.)
Yesterday they were asking for volunteers to come in and help monitor the students after receiving the shots. They need to be monitored for 20 minutes after the shots for any adverse reactions.
I am sorry but I would think if I did not give permission for my child to be vaccinated that would be a clue that I really do not want to be a part of the experience either. Everyone makes their choices based on what is good for their families. We decided that the regular flu shots would be fine for us. Usually I am the only one who does not take the flu shot in our household, but this year I took it. This year our entrance into public school influenced my decision.
I actually was quite surprised that such a large percentage opted for the vaccination. With all the hype in the mainstream media about people not wanting "government" involvement, I find it interesting that so many chose the free vaccinations available through government funding.
Great point about government health care and the demand (and criticism) of the gov't for not ensuring enough vaccines. Which one is it.
