I completed my first 5K run!!!!
It was quite an accomplishment for me especially since I barely broke the 2 mile mark prior.
I had been referring to it as a "run" and until we lined up at the start line it hit me .... IT WAS A RACE. When everyone around me starting strapping on gadgets and discussing wind direction I realized ... I was alone. I stepped to the side and took a couple steps back.
My goal was to finish. When I crossed the line that was it for me. I accomplished my goal. Someone came up to me and said "You did good ... you ran a 35". That is when I realized I had not looked at the time as I crossed the finish line. I guess in a race it is important to know your time.
As much I complain about not liking running it felt really good to "compete" and finish.
